Best known for his work with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, drumming legend Ted McKenna started his career aged 16.

After a four-year apprenticeship playing all over Scotland and the north of England, he joined the rock band Tear Gas and recorded his first album. Tear Gas supported  singer Alex Harvey in 1972 and they combined to become The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

After recording ning albums, the band split in 1977 and Ted continued his drumming career with a series of outstanding musicians: Rory Gallagher, Greg Lake (ELP), Gary Moore, Michael Schenker (Scorpions, MSG) and Ian Gillan (Deep Purple).

Although primarily known as a rock musician, Ted has also worked with jazz maestro John Etheridge, Juno Award-winning American Canadian blues guitarist Amos Garrett and American soul duo Womack & Womack.

He’s currently touring with Gerry McAvoy and Marcel Scherpenzeel in Band of Friends – a celebration of the music of Rory Gallagher and The Michael Schenker Fest.

Ted is also available for tours, sessions, master classes and drumming workshops.
